Mathew's approach to beauty is edgy, fresh and uncomplicated. Born in Kiev, he moved to New York City in 1991. Destined to follow in his father's footsteps to become an aircraft engineer, he broke boundaries and escaped family traditions to freely express his creativity. He began creating modern looks inspired by Hollywood and French Cinema, at then dull fashion shows in communist USSR. Learning modern techniques through import fashion magazines, he made a big splash in Kiev. Dreaming of creative freedom and escape from the stagnation of communism to New York, the fashion Mecca of the world.

He sees the world through creative eyes of an artist, and his love for harmony and color led him to his passion for beauty. Mathew's NYC career started on Madison Avenue, with Bruno Pittini, the 70’s hair guru who polished the images of fashion icons such as Brigitte Bardot & Catherine Deneuve.

On Madison Avenue he worked alongside Frederic Fekkai, Jerome Lordet and Serge Normant. Under Pittini’s guidance he adapted the French Technique that directs his vision and in used in modern cutting and styling today. Bianca Jagger, Merrill Streep, Donald Sutherland and Oksana Baiul were all frequent clients of the salon. After several years at Bruno Pittini, Mathew worked with Oscar Blandi at Peter Coppola Salon.

In 2000 he opened his first salon La Boom in Brooklyn, New York. The “Atelier de Beauty” - is a place where Mathew can devote personal attention to his clients counting among them actresses, athletes and socialites. At La Boom Mathew is experimenting with form, texture and color. Currently he is exploring photography, as well as designing his first hair accessory line.
